My friends who drag race say that the 02J has an additional mount that ties the oil pan to the tranny too. So I guess Kaaz is the way to go, but I hear that it has fitment issues in certain 02a and 02j cases. I've been on the side of the road a few times re-bleeding an 02A before.įrom everything I have read, a clutch-type LSD is better than a Torsen style unit because even with zero load it will spin the other wheel. Is 4.24 my only off the shelf option for the 02a?Īnother thing I have been pondering is whether the cable clutch conversion would be better for rally than the hydraulic system. But looking into R+P kits on Bildon, it seems like the 020 has better Final Gear options. It's a bit more stout and the cable shift will allow me to run a higher mounted shifter. So I think I have convinced myself already that 02A or 02J is the way to go. ![]() I want to get the car running so I can road drive it for a few weeks, get an inspection and register it before I strip it down to seam weld and install the roll cage. Right now, the car is nothing more than an OBD1 2-door golf (aba) with a blown transmission, so that is the first thing to fix. So I've just started a G2 Mk3 build that I plan to have ready for the 2010 season. It's a bit slow over there and the only reply I got, I actually solicited here out of Barefoot.
